The Goody Fellowship for Playwrights was founded by a Seaside family in honor of their love for the theatre spanning generations. The Fellowship is intended to provide Escape to Create Playwrights a fulfilling workshop process that advances new works on the journey toward publication and world premiers. Developed in partnership with Northwest Florida’s premier repertory theatre, The REP Theatre in Seaside, the Goody Fellowship offers playwrights the freedom and support to explore their work in a deep and meaningful way during their Escape to Create residency. The Fellowship confers a $1,000 award in addition to the $100 weekly artist stipend.
The Goody Fellowship is available to the emerging playwright as well as the established professional. During the E2C residency, the awarded script will be rehearsed and developed in a playwright-centric workshop with close guidance from The REP’s Executive Director and the Goody Fellowship Dramaturge. The intensive process is tailored to support the specific goals of the playwright and to provide critical support in the development of works ranging from early draft to production ready. Near the end of the residency, The REP Theatre will perform a public script-in-hand reading ranging from selected scenes to an entire script. Actors will be cast at the discretion of The REP using company actors or by engaging actors from the region.
